Every morning, after the children have left for school, and the husbands have gone out to the field to tend the crops, the women of San Miguel Chicaj weave. With the loom on the hip, and an almost magical precision we shape beautiful items for the house or personal use. Each strand in its place, each color with a meaning, our hands create with art and care, unequalled fabrics. The millenary art of weaving was passed down to us from our mothers and grandmothers, and we pass it on to our daughters. This work, together with agriculture, economically supports thousands of families in Guatemala, and due to its quality and originality it is also a pride for our country.
